Jen Rosenblit: Stand In (in development)

About

This early research phase centers around the game of chess to harness the battle, protection, creating a court and the operation of focus between opposing sides.  Musician, Neda Sanai composes possibilities for the sound design as it creates and shifts the stakes within the room. Visual Artist, Christopher Füllemann creates a checkered silicon floor and body casts that litter the space. Images of the soldier come into play, anointing armor and preparation for the possibility of the battle. The materiality of the silicon adheres directly to a new kind of skin, an everlasting one. This interplay between replacement, protection and regeneration has the potential to speak toward reproduction as not limited to motherhood, not even between two bodies. This work calls for a future that might not work, yet still manages to harness the devotion as if it is the only thing worth being present for.
