Bio
Jen Rosenblit makes performance in New York City and Berlin. Her recent works Clap Hands (2016) and the companion work Swivel Spot (2017) have lead her on an inquiry toward the uncanny and maintenance of care. Rosenblit is a 2015-16 Movement Research artist-in-residence, recipient of a 2016 award from The MAP Fund, a 2014 New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award for Emerging Choreographer, an inaugural recipient of THE AWARD, a 2014-2015 workspace artist through LMCC, a 2013 Fellow at Insel Hombroich (Germany), a 2012 Grant to Artists from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, and a 2009 Fresh Tracks artist (Dance Theater Workshop). Rosenblit has received commissions from The Kitchen, New York Live Arts, Danspace Project, and Issue Project Room. Rosenblit’s work was included in the MoMA PS1 quintennial Greater New York in 2016. Rosenblit has collaborated with artists including Young Jean Lee, Ryan McNamara, Yvonne Meier, Sasa Asentic, A.K. Burns, Kerry Downey, Anne Imhof, Miguel Gutierrez, and currently Simone Aughterlony. In collaboration with Aughterlony, Everything Fits In The Room, a commission and co-production by HAU Hebbel am Ufer is currently touring. Rosenblit is currently researching Stand In, a new work which will premiere at The Chocolate Factory in 2018-19 in NYC, centering around the game of chess to harness the battle, protection, creating a court and the operation of focus. Recent works navigate an improvisational approach to choreographic thought, locating ways of being together amidst impossible spaces.
